Life in and out of the "germ factory"

Oh goodness--I actually started posting this on Saturday and am just now getting back to it! That's because Sadie woke up about 10 p.m. with a fever and decided she would like to only sleep on me the rest of the night...the few times I did get her in her crib it didn't last more than half an hour or so...it was a very long night and a very long Sunday! Fortunately, she slept better last night and her fever is down but not gone...hopefully tomorrow we will be able to go back to daycare!

Hopefully her little body will adjust to going to the "germ factory" everyday very soon! So far she's had a cold, ear infection, and not this fever since she started--and one cold for Mommy too! Yikes! She did very well last week though and attended everyday--we're stretching out the days each day--Friday she was there from 8:30 till 4:30 and did great!

I have to get used to her coming home very messy! When I picked her up Friday she was completely covered with sand!!! She was having a good time in the sandbox! One day there was a drink spilled down her front, one day she decided to smear her snack into her clothes...oh my...at least it makes me feel like she's enjoying herself!!!

Enjoy some pictures below!

I gave Sadie her first bubble bath last week!
Unfortunately, she wanted to eat the bubbles! We may wait awhile on the next one!

Sadie keeps putting her hands in her hair when eating! I think she enjoys my reaction which I am trying to hold back! This was an especially bad night where she decided to use her yogurt as hair product!

Sadie got a new purse from her cousin Olivia! She loved it and toted it around all evening! She especially loves it when I hide her cell phone in it when she's not looking and she opens it up and finds it. She gets such a look of delight on her face!!

I wish I could get her to leave this cute headband in her hair but no such luck--it's just too interesting to leave alone!

We got this toy as a gift a long time ago but this week Sadie has new found interest in it! I think she finally got that you were supposed to walk behind it and push--they have lots of push toys like this at daycare so I'm guessing she finally picked it up there! Now the only problem is dealing with her frustration when she runs into things and can't make it go! She's learning though after a brief frustrated outburst to move it around or else she just plows over whatever is in her way!

Sadie loves her balls and calls them "baws"

And she loves her stuffed animals too! Last night she was covering one up with a blanket--so cute!

Just a cute happy picture--you can see her new tooth! The other front one finally broke through too just the other day!

Update on Daycare!

Sadie had three really good days at daycare! She didn't cry much--just when I left for a few minutes and then only when other kids would cry (she's very sensitive!). And, she slept for at least an hour and a half all three days! I couldn't believe it! That was my biggest worry.

Thursday she woke up with a cold...I knew she would get sick fairly soon but I had hoped we would make it through the first week at least! Luckily it was short lived and by Friday morning she seemed to feel better so I took her back. They called around 11 and said she was having a really rough day, didn't seem to feel well, and her nose was running non-stop. I went to get her and by the time we got home she seemed fine and I realized her nose was only running because she had been crying so much. Not sure what was going on but I suspect she was upset because there was another little girl there who hadn't been there all week who cries pretty constantly! She started the week before Sadie but has only been coming a couple of days a week. I think she starts full-time this week so she and Sadie will need to learn not to feed off one another! Anyhow, hopefully she's be back to her cheerful self by tomorrow.

She is teething as well so that could have been part of the problem. One of her top front teeth is about half way down but the other one hasn't broken through yet. I think she may be getting some on the bottom as well although I'm not investigating much anymore because when I stuck my finger in her mouth yesterday she bit me HARD!

I didn't get many pictures this week so here's a few we took the week before when we visited her school. They're not that good but they'll have to do for this week!

Enjoy!

Not so sure about this sandbox thing!

Note to self: Do not send Sadie to daycare in cuffed pants if you don't want sand spilling out of them later on!! There's a really nice outdoor area where they go out and play twice a day--it has lots of riding toys and climbing toys and obviously the sandbox!

Sadie's little buddies--Simon, Aiden, and Brady. So cute--they sit in these little chairs and eat and have snacks...

Home three months!

We have been home three months today! I can't believe how fast the time has gone! And tomorrow is a big day as Sadie starts at daycare. We have been to visit about 3 times just hanging out in the room and getting to know the kids. Sadie has three little boys in her class who are a couple of months older than her and there is one little girl who just started last week who is about her age. I think she will be fine once she realizes I will come back for her--the hardest part I think will be getting her to take a nap on the little mat on the floor! Hopefully she won't keep all the other kids up! So, hopefully she will have a good week and it won't be too traumatic!
Sadie's cousin (my niece), Shawna visited this week. Sadie enjoyed getting to know her and she always enjoys having someone else to perform for! I left Sadie alone with my friend Julie on Monday while I went to Daytona to pick up Shawna. She did great so hopefully that will be true of daycare as well!

Sadie learns new things everyday--it's amazing to watch her. She knows several signs now (although in her world many look alike and you have to use the context to figure out what she is trying to say), but she signs eat, more, banana, water, flower, wash hands, cat, dog, and she has kind of made up her own for "night-night". She puts her hand up to her face and kind of cups her cheek in her hand--so cute! She can point to her belly button, nose, eyes, ears, and knees, and gets it right about 80% of the time! She's finally learning to take bites instead of me having to cut up everything--well at least with a banana. It's hard to bite with her few teeth! And today we went out to lunch with Grandma and Grandpa and she finally got the idea of sucking through a straw! However, she didn't seem to get that she was supposed to swallow once she got it in her mouth! She kept opening her mouth and letting the milk run out! So, we will have to practice that one at home! So many things to learn--it's so fun to watch!

Enjoy some new pics below! I'll let you know next week how the week went!

Sadie and I had some friends over to root on the Colts! This was as close as we could get to dressing in Colts colors that day!

Sadie loves, loves, loves canteloupe! Here she is having her favorite snack!

I had to have a few of these shots to torment her with once she is a teenager!

It was chilly here last week (I know--nothing compared to what many of you are experiencing) but it called for Sadie's hat!

Sadie and Shawna

Just being silly...

We got the bubbles out this week! Sadie was very intrigued!

Lots of pictures below since I haven't posted anything in awhile--they are a bit out of order but that's okay. Sadie is trying hard to cut her two front teeth--soon that cute little vampire smile will be changing! The pictures don't do her justice...she's just too cute for words!
My little pickpocket at work...
One night I turned around and Sadie had managed to get her arm through the neck of her shirt!
She worked...
and worked...
and worked...

and finally had success!!!

Too cool for school...

Got milk??

You can see her poor swollen gums in this pic!

Apparently the large number of toys already strewn across the floor weren't good enough and we had to crawl INTO the toybox to find something worthy of playing with!

I started trying to get Sadie to eat with a spoon. If I put the food on the spoon, she does a pretty good job getting it into her mouth. Here was our first attempt with some cottage cheese...

Sometimes the wrong end of the spoon ends up in the mouth!

How do they squat like this?

Here mom--here's a puzzle for you...

My friend Ellie sent me this snazzy tennis dress so I don't need these old clothes anymore!

Sadie loves to take her socks off and then they provide a great deal of entertainment carrying them around! She appears to have a bit of a beer belly here!
